UK offers several options for international students who wish to pursue a study course in the UK.

Tier 4 (General) student

This is the most popular type of student visas to the UK and is reserved for students coming to the UK for post-16 educations. A Tier 4 (General) student must be at least 16 years old and should have received a Confirmation of Acceptance of studies [CAS] from a Tier 4 sponsor higher education institution.

Tier 4 (Child) student

Children between 4 and 17 years old coming to the UK for their studies can apply for Tier 4 Child visa. Students holding the Tier 4 Child student Visa are only permitted to study at independent schools.

Short term study visa

The Short Term Study Visa is for migrants who have been offered a place on a course in the UK at an accepted place of study and have enough money to support themselves without working or help from public funds. The course must be offered by an education provider with a valid Tier 4 sponsor license or the education provider must be an education institution listed on Home Office site.
