5 Visa tips for a great start to your globetrotting

(This article was updated on 24/06/2020)

Chilling on the beach or trekking in the mountains, whatever is in store for you this summer, the visa application is an integral aspect of any vacation plan abroad. Immigration consultants in India recommend an early start to this process as it could alleviate you of some of the anxiety associated with visa application procedures.

Follow these UK Visa tips to enhance your visa application and make it convenient and hassle-free.

  1. Be the early bird:

When planning your travels, you would always book flights and hotels in advance. Do the same for your visas. Most countries accept visa applications up to 90 days before your date of travel. So don’t wait till the last minute.
If you need your visa in a hurry, you can opt for Priority Visa Service (available for select countries) for your visit, work or study visa applications depending on the Mission/Embassy. This will put your application the front of the queue at every stage of the decision-making process in an embassy. For Example, UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) works to make a decision on a Priority Visa application in as less as five working days.

  2. Check the turnaround times for processing:

Each country has a different timeline for visa processing, and these timelines are clearly mentioned on the country-specific websites. Be aware that during peak season visa processing can take longer than usual.

  3. Stay updated about visa status:

Once your application is submitted, you must keep an eye on its progress through VFS Global’s online tracking service. The status will be updated as and when your passport is ready for collection/delivery.
For a stress-free experience, you can opt for SmartMove Immigration’s Full Representative Service, in which our associates will constantly keep a track on your visa application, assisting your every step of the way until you get your visa in hand. Email info@smi.legal to know more ( “Full Representation Service” in the subject line and your visa category of interest in the body)

  4. Appointments:

Some countries require applicants to schedule an appointment with the visa application centre to submit an application. Once scheduled, we highly recommend being at the centre 15 minutes prior to the appointed time to avoid missing your slot.

  5. Make a checklist, and check it twice:

A checklist of the documentation required for visa applications for each country is available on the VFS global website. Be sure to carry all the required documents to submit along with the application form duly filled. Note that most countries require a passport that is valid for at least 6 months post your return date.
