The first Labour Market Priorities draw has been led by Nova Scotia in three months on September 4 inviting 204 Express Entry candidates for application about a provincial nomination for Canadian PR Visa.
The Labour Market Priorities Stream permits the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) to identify from Canada’s Express Entry Pool of qualifying candidates who can cater to labour market requirements in the respective province regime.
From its launch in 2018, the stream has offered an invitation to early childhood education workers, financial auditors and accountants, as well as French-speaking Canada Express entry candidates.
This recent draw aimed Canada Express Entry candidates who had opted out for French as their first official language and possess a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of 8 or higher in French language abilities (reading, writing, listening and speaking)
The candidates who have been selected as per the express entry Canada requirements also need to possess a CLB score of at least 6 or higher in English in all four language abilities or either a bachelor’s degree or a full-fledged completed program of three years or more at a university, college, trade or technical school.
A representative of the NSNP opined that the minimum requirement of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was not necessary.
A CRS Score decides a candidate’s ranking position in the Express Entry Pool and depends on parameters such as age, education as well as skilled work experience and language proficiency in English or French, among other criteria.
Express Entry candidates holding provincial nominations get an additional 600 points in the CRS ranking, virtually ensuring an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Applicants who received a Letter of invitation in 4th September 2019 draw, have thirty calendar days for submission of the completed application to the NSNP.
