2018 November Record invitation on Canada CRS draw

The government of Canada ranks applicants of the Canadian Permanent Residence under the Express Entry Program using a points-based-system called the Comprehensive Ranking system, commonly referred to as the CRS. Based on the points earned according to the CRS system, the government decides which candidates they must send invitations to apply for a PR in a CRS draw that is held twice every month.

It is helpful to keep an eye on the information from these draws on a regular basis to have a good estimate on the trends in the scores required to be invited. Draw held on November 28, has now crossed the number of invitations sent at the same time last year November 2017. Previous record set for express entry an invitation that was sent last year was at – 86,023 invitations.
28 November’s draws issued 3,900 invitations bringing the total of express entry invitation of the year at 82,000. Minimum CRS score was at 445 decreasing by four points over the previous draw Express Entry draw on November 15, which had the CRS score a minimum of 449. Canadian immigration service is only 4,024 Invitation to Apply (ITA) away from breaking the last year record with another month to go in 2018.

Seeing the trend how the express entry draws are held on an average twice a month, and how IRCC has issued 3,900 invitations in six of the last seven all-programs draws held since September 5, they can easily surpass ITA 86,023 in the month of December as the draws continue for the remainder of the year.

The key trend to be observed above is that the CRS score of the lowest ranked candidate has gone up by 7 points between just two draws. This trend highlights a crucial aspect of the Canadian Express Entry program: the aspect of time.

If you are a candidate with adequate merits for a Canadian PR under the CRS draw today, your chances may go down by the very next draw. This increase in ‘lowest accepted score’ will only get higher in the months and years to come.
